Alright, I can already foresee this is going to be "one of those series" like School Days, maybe not that dramatic nor psychotic, but definitely some messed up stuff is going to happen down the road, it has that kind of vibe.
The episode starts a bit confusing, with what appears to be a dream from this guy who're fearing he's gonna lose his girlfriend now that she's an "Idol" in Japan, and then we get to know a bit more about him and the world around him. His name is Toya, her girlfriend is Yuki, who's some sort of backup singer for another idol named Rina. Toya apparently just lost his job, but registered to be a private tutor (which i can already see it's gonna be a sketchy point in the series) and also got a new job at a some sort of fancy Cafe working with a guy named Akira, who has a crush a girl called Misaki, who clearly has the hots for Toya. Getting messy already?
The protagonist also seems to have a weird fixation with the idea of "Goddess of the Day", which is any random woman who happens to make some change in his life and who is sent to him by destiny.. or that's what he believes, at least. We also meet this troubled girl named Haruka, who also clearly is after Toya, but has a some sad past involving a dead brother who is preventing her from being a normal relaxed girl around him (she has this weird vibe to her, like you know something is always wrong with her for some reason).
We then realize that Rina has some type of God-complex (which is fueled by everyone around her treating her as such) and also has some rivalry with an idol group, that takes their anger for her by bullying Yuki (who we come to see is a total pushover) and also staining her outfit just before she has to perform on TV. We finally see that Toya's mother is dead, and that he has a really bad relationship with his dad (maybe this will be an important plot element in the future, who knows). The episode ends with Rina taking an interest in knowing more about Yuki's boyfriend, which is just obvious will be reason for conflict at some point in the series.
All in all, I really liked the plot development in this episode, characters are interesting, they use this storytelling element where they show us what the characters are thinking (without saying it out loud) and that general vibe that something is gonna go very wrong eventually is definitely intriguing, enough for me to continue watching this series, so make sure to check out my review of the next episode.
