[Web] The Walking Dead, Webisode 1

This is the story of Hannah, the half-eaten walker which Rick Grimes kills out of mercy in Episode 01 of the first season of this amazing kick-ass series. That moment by itself was so moving and significant, and it gave us an insight of Rick's character which is just further developed when we understand where that walker came from… and why she ended up like that.

Being set at the very beginning of the "zombie virus" outbreak, we get a look of the stress that those first moments were full of (let's remember that the series starts with Rick waking up from a coma a long while after the world was taken over by walkers), specially when it comes to killing loved ones who have already turned. Very powerful stuff.

WHAT TO LOVE
A glimpse to the start of everything, almost a prequel to the entire series… this webisode fills that role so perfectly, it would almost have been a crime not to have it made at some point. It sets the precedent for so many things to come.. plus, getting the back story of the half-eaten zombie, reminding us that ALL walkers at some point were human, with their own lives and stories.. it's just priceless.

WHAT TO HATE
I know that finding good child actors is hard… but seriously? They couldn't find any kids who were better at acting than these ones? Their acting is HORRIBLE! It really almost ruined the entire thing for me… specially that part "C'mon babyboy, all things die at some point". Come on! Worst casting I've ever saw if I ever saw one! Also, the "ex-wife killing current wife" bit seriously felt pointless, but maybe that's just me being too picky (ha, ha!).

WHAT TO IGNORE
To have Hannah entering that car without even bothering to look inside to make sure it was safe to board may have been, plot-wise, attributed to the fact they were rushing to get to the evacuation zone.. but really, you know that was put there just to justify Hannah getting bitten and infected. I mean, she had to have turned into a walker some way, so, this had to happened. I just wish her "death" had been a little smarter.. but then again, it wasn't so terrible, just poorly scripted.

THE VERDICT
All in all, this webisode rocked and was a most needed filler in between seasons 1 and 2, while serving as some sort of prequel as well. If those terrible kid actors hadn't been there, it would have been so much better, but still, awesome production and just the first of more web series to come!
